WHAT THIS SHOP IS.

A video-vault review site for workout DVDs, old-school training tapes, and the techniques the golden-era coaches actually used. Run out of a rented garage in the UK by people who have watched too many Mike Mentzer interviews.

What we do

We find old bodybuilding tapes. We watch them. We write about what is on them, what the training actually looks like when you pause and squint, and whether any of it would be useful for a person with a gym membership in 2026.

We also cover modern viral workout clips the same way: with a trained eye, a bit of history, and a willingness to say when something is nonsense.

What you will not find

  • Affiliate links to DVD-shop storefronts. We do not take commission.
  • Sponsored reviews. Nobody pays for a good word here.
  • "Top 10 tapes" listicles ranked by what scores on Amazon.
  • Marketing copy about "secret techniques the gym industry does not want you to know".

Who runs the counter

A rotating bench of UK-based writers, personal trainers, and genuine collectors of workout tapes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Named bylines on every review. No ghost-written first drafts, no generated prose passed off as opinion.

If we say a tape is brilliant, we have watched it front to back. If we say it is rubbish, same. Anything else is an insult to the people who made them.

Legal small print

We review physical media. We do not distribute, share, or host any video content. We do not provide streaming links to copyrighted material. Where a tape is out of print, we link to legitimate second-hand marketplaces and leave it at that.

Talk to the counter

Got a tape we should review? A training trick we should look up? Email the counter. Comments are closed on every review because comment threads go sideways fast and a good correction is better sent privately.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.
