Here’s a rundown of every major character and actor who appeared in Marvel’s WandaVision, which debuted on Disney+ on January 15, 2021. Spoilers ahead!
Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Wanda Maximoff – aka Scarlet Witch. We last saw Wanda nearly killing Thanos in battle in Avengers: Endgame as she sought revenge for the death of Vision. In WandaVision, Wanda is living inside “The Hex,” a faux-reality in which she imagines a domesticated life with Vision via various TV sitcoms styles and eras. But perhaps the biggest mystery of the series is this – is Wanda being manipulated by an outside force, or is this idyllic prison one of her own making? The evidence strongly led towards the latter option.
Paul Bettany returns as the android Vision, who now seems to be a figment of Wanda’s imagination and/or madness. Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, before the snap, making his death (more or less) permanent. Episode 8 suggests that, rather than resurrect the old Vision, Wanda simply recreated him based on her memories.
The series has introduced Wanda’s twin sons, Billy and Tommy, to the MCU. Thanks to their supernatural origins, these two characters have already aged a great deal, going from infants to age 5 (played by Baylen Bielitz and Gavin Borders) and then age 10 (played by Julian Hilliard and Jett Flyne). Presumably, the two will eventually reach their teenage years and become the costumed heroes Wiccan and Speed, as happened in the comics, though the series certainly hints not all is right with these two boys, and it ends with them in… well, not a great place.
In a major twist in Episode 5, Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver, appears at Wanda’s door. However, even stranger than the fact he should be dead, is the fact that it isn’t the MCU’s Quicksilver, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson – it’s seemingly the Quicksilver from Fox’s X-Men universe, played by Evan Peters. While this appearance at first seemed to have major implications for the future of the MCU, and how it may cross over with past Marvel movies, eventually we learned that the character was actually just an actor named Ralph Bohner who had fallen under Agatha Harkness’ spell.
