With the Euphoria Season 2 finale ending with a lot of unanswered questions, these are the 10 storylines that are highly anticipated by fans!

HBO’s Euphoria has been renewed for Season 3, and fans are dying to know what will come next. With the many complexities in Season 2, like betrayals, trauma, and even an over-the-top school play, there are sure to be more wild elements in the next season.

With the Season 2 ending of Euphoria, there were a lot of unanswered questions and plot holes that fans want to be filled. While there are many different views on the finale and the cliffhangers it ended on, there are already many things that need to be answered in the upcoming season, including needing to know if Fez is okay to wondering if Rue will stay sober.

Nate Needs To Get Help

Nate has always been a problematic character, and Season 2 provided more insight into his traumas and some of the causes of his behavior. From the abuse he’s always endured from his father, in one way or another, to his drinking and driving drunk with a fully loaded gun, it’s hard to know what Nate will do next.

Viewers weren’t sure if Nate’s nightmare, where he lay on his stomach as his father came up behind him (which mirrored the Season 1 image of Cal having sex with Jules), reflected his real-life experience of his childhood or his biggest fear. Either way, there are clear signs he needs some help to dela with these issues and it would be great to see him get it either through therapy or another platform.

Maddy Needs To Catch A Break

Fans instantly fell in love with Maddy and her badass character. While she still had a lot of amazing moments, Season 2 brought a lot of pain to her. As if her issues with Nate weren’t bad enough, she was betrayed by her best friend. With Cassie and Nate hooking up behind her back, Maddy was extremely upset and hardened. Not only did she deal with that, but she was also held at gunpoint by Nate who at one point supposedly loved her.

With the hate that she currently holds for Cassie and the complexity of Nate holding her at gunpoint, it is clear Maddy needs a break. Some fans speculated on Twitter that she would be leaving next season whether to college or just skipping town. Either way, she deserves a break from all the drama and to just have fun next season.

Kat Needs More Screen Time

Kat became a fan favorite in Season 1 but quickly became a disappointment this season when her character arc plummeted and she took a backseat to the rest of the cast. She had many uncharacteristic moments like the bizarre excuse she came up with when breaking up with Ethan, saying she had a terminal brain disease instead of just admitting her feelings. Her situation with Ethan was one of the biggest issues with Kat’s story arc this season.

Season 1 provided Kat had many fun fantasy moments and exciting scandals, but there were hardly any of those this season. Her main story arc was with Ethan and it took away from her spunky and exciting depth. The main reason for this was simply that she didn’t have the same screen time as before. While no one knows why her character took to the back burner, viewers agree that her screen time needs to increase in Season 3.

The Third Jacobs Child Needs To Be Revealed

One big plot hole fans are still eager to know about is the third Jacobs child. It’s now been two seasons and there’s still no explanation for why there is a third child alongside Nate and his older brother in the family portrait. There has been much speculation about the third mysterious child.

Many believed it was a producer error in the Season 1 pilot but with the photo from this season, it appears there may be more to the story. With all the struggles in the Jacobs house currently, it’s hard to know if this will ever be expanded on, but it’s an avenue many fans definitely want to be explored.

Cassie Needs To Stay Away From Nate And Figure Herself Out

Cassie went on a rollercoaster ride this season. From betraying her best friend by getting with the worst guy possible to being completely self-involved and making a fool out of herself at her sister’s play, Cassie definitely has some things to work through. Her character was a favorite in season 1, but by the end of Season 2, Cassie was by far the most chaotic character and hardly showed any redeeming qualities.

While she seemed remorseful in the bathroom with a bloody nose after her fight with Maddy, it’s still unclear whether she would get back together with Nate if the opportunity arose. One thing is certain, Nate will keep playing her and she will keep being broken if she doesn’t get away from him. Hopefully, Season 3 will bring closure to the horrible Cassie arc and allow her to leave Nate and figure herself out.

Fez And Lexi Need To Get Together

There’s no doubt Fez and Lexi are meant to be together. After having major chemistry at the party to Lexi telling Fez everything leading up to her play, the ending definitely left viewers pleading for answers. Fez is hurt and potentially going to jail if he survives, which leaves little room for the two lovers to get together.

Their relationship was a slow burner and by the end of the season, there was still no kiss or indication the two would get together besides how excited fez was to go to Lexi’s play and the note he had to give to her. Fans are dying to know what the note said and if the two can get back on track after the horrible death of Fez’s brother, which will no doubt consume him next season.

Rue Needs To Pay Laurie

Euphoria: 10 Things That Need To Happen In Season 3

One of the major cliffhangers of this season was what’s going to happen to Rue since she lost all of the drugs Laurie gave for her to sell. Fans were surprised to see the finale end with no answer as to if Rue will face repercussions from losing all the drugs, especially after Laurie threatened that she’d kidnap Rue if she didn’t pay.

Not only is this controversial because she owes a drug dealer a lot of money, but it also makes it harder for Rue to truly cut ties and stay sober in the future. With no explanation in the finale, Season 3 will definitely need to tie up those loose ends, which hopefully won’t be as painful as expected.

Rue And Jules Need To Work Things Out

Euphoria: 10 Things That Need To Happen In Season 3
Euphoria: 10 Things That Need To Happen In Season 3

There’s a major controversy over what should happen between Rue and Jules in Season 3 after the many different troubles they’ve endured. Whether it be Rue’s drug addiction, Jules turning Rue into her mom for the relapse, or the betrayal between Jules and Elliot, there is constant drama between the couple.

The end of Season 2 left fans questioning what might happen with their relationship. When Jules tells Rue she still loves and misses her, Rue just kisses her forehead and walks away with what seems like could be goodbye, at least for now. Although the show may not be complete without a Rue and Jules relationship, it may be best if the two take a step apart and work on themselves so they don’t fall back into their toxic ways. However, the show wouldn’t be the same without the two connecting in some way, so working things out is a must in Season 3.

Fez Needs To Be Okay

Euphoria: 10 Things That Need To Happen In Season 3

One of the worst cliffhangers fans were left with was whether or not Fez, the best Euphoria character according to Ranker, is okay. The showdown with Fez, Ashtray, Custer, and Faye left fans wondering how Fez was going to handle the death of his brother on top of possibly facing jail time. That’s if he’s even okay after being shot. There’s also the whole missing Lexi’s play and dealing with all those feelings while trying to overcome the loss of his brother and the trauma surrounding it.

There was so much intensity surrounding these last few moments with the shootout and Fez. The final scene of him being dragged out of the house with a bullet wound to the gut and a letter for Lexi falling to the ground left fans eager to know what will come of it all. There’s so much to depict and Season 3 must provide answers.

Rue Needs To Stay Sober

Euphoria: 10 Things That Need To Happen In Season 3
Euphoria: 10 Things That Need To Happen In Season 3

The last few minutes of the Season 2 finale ended with Rue saying she stayed sober for the remainder of the school year. This is arguably the best thing Rue’s ever done so far in the show. While it seems to be a positive thing, Rue herself seems to face doubts about her sobriety saying, “I don’t know if this feeling will last forever, but I’m trying.” She seems to be in a better place overall, making amends with people she’s hurt and those who’ve hurt her, but addiction is hard to overcome and she already appears hesitant.

Rue’s drug abuse is a main element of the show, so fans are curious about what that might look like in the seasons to come. However, it is clear she needs to remain sober in order to keep building her relationships and become a better person. If she avoids the toxic people in her life, she may have a better chance of doing so and working on her road to recovery.
