Ex-government agent and one of the FBI’s Most Wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) mysteriously turns himself in to the FBI and offers to give up everyone he has ever worked with including a long-thought-dead terrorist but under one condition – he’ll only talk to newly-minted female FBI profiler, Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) with whom he seemingly has no connection. For Liz, it’s going to be one hell of a first day on the job and what follows is a twisting series of events as the race to stop a terrorist begins.
Red continues to battle Berlin and faces a new threat from a man named Lord Baltimore. An important person comes back from the past into Red’s world. Meanwhile, Liz tries to move forward with her life after her showdown with Tom. When the Monarch Douglas Bank is robbed, Red seizes the opportunity to try and take the money-laundering bank down. Liz questions Red’s intentions as she investigates the crime. Meanwhile, a new member joins Cooper’s taskforce after impressing everyone on the team.
Agent Keen and Red are on the run from the FBI, while Dembe receives contact that will jeopardise his future. As Liz pleads for her safety in the Russian Embassy, Red discovers a new plan devised by the Cabal to kill her. A familiar face reaches out to Ressler. Dembe continues at Solomon’s mercy. Red and Keen head to Iowa to investigate a corporation connected to the Cabal, with Ressler and Navabi on their tail. Cooper and Tom join forces.
Liz is abducted by a man claiming to be her father, prompting Red’s desperate efforts to find her. Red enlists Tom and the Task Force to help track a notorious bounty hunter who may know Alexander Kirk’s next move. Meanwhile, Liz struggles to decide if Kirk is trustworthy. Red and the Task Force take extreme measures to hunt down one of Alexander Kirk’s allies, Miles McGrath, a “criminal incubator” who finances crimes for profit. Meanwhile, Liz learns more about her family.
With his criminal empire in ruins, Red enlists Liz in a plan to earn cash and deliver a new Blacklister to the Task Force. The team pursues a billionaire high end art thief. Tom seeks to identify the remains in the suitcase. The team investigates a number of suspicious police shootings. Ressler is distracted by his outside issues. Red needs Tom’s help to re-establish his criminal empire.
Red gives the Task Force a Blacklister case, who creates new identities for criminals. Liz and her sister secretly investigate the events that took place the night the real Raymond Reddington died. As Liz and the Task Force race to stop an imminent bombing by a Blacklister, Red encounters a life changing situation. As the Task Force track a notorious underground biohacker, Red initiates a plan to escape a problematic position. Meanwhile, Cooper’s integrity is put on test.
After being abducted by Katarina Rostova, Reddington finds himself alone in hostile territory unsure of who, if anyone, he can trust; with few leads to go on, Liz and the Task Force venture into unknown danger as they race to find him. Liz, Dembe and the Task Force continue to search for Red, who attempts to escape his abductors with help from a surprise ally, but discovers he is not Katarina Rostova’s only target in her hunt for information.
