What’s it about
A contemporary multiracial family faces a series of life changes and emotional challenges in Season 1.
I read a few critics reviews and was unsure but I like Alan Ball’s shows and gave it a go. Glad I did, I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes. I like the characters and see room for the actors to grow into their roles.
I find Tim Robbins character interesting and his struggle with the sense of failure because, at 60, he thinks all the seemingly positive things he believes his generation fought for was all-for-nothing, that the world has just gone to hell.
I also find the 11:11 aspect intriguing. I’m not superstitious and I am aware if what people say about it but it happens to me often, so hey, interested to see where Ball takes it.
I look forward to more episodes!
Fantastic so far. I sort of understand the negative reviews because of the strong political and current issues this show represents but I also understand that you have to skim deeper than the surface, ‘look closer” as was the tagline in Alan Ball’s film American Beauty. I found myself being able to relate to quite a few of the characters and many of the story lines are vibrant and fresh. It’s only got three episodes so far but they’ve introduced some very tough questions about life and I’m curious to see where this will lead to.
I just finished watching the last episode of the first season and I have to say that I love everything about this show. Fantastic cast, mysterious storyline, interesting characters…all of which kept me coming back for more each week. I adore shows that have you crying tears of empathy one minute and then give you a “what the hell?” plot twist the next. Can’t wait to binge watch the whole season all over again. Please HBO…bring this back for a second season!!!
