What’s it about
Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block follows Alice Woods and her schizophrenic sister Zoe who have moved to a small town to start over. On the outskirts of town lies Butcher’s Block, a hellish neighborhood where junkies roam and lawlessness abounds. The sisters encounter Joseph Peach and his family, who offer them a place with promise of a world without worry and without illness. The sisters soon find that the cost of living the good life comes at an unimaginable price, and there is a fine line between escaping insanity and embracing true madness.
Season 3 is bloody, very bloody. So be prepared for that. I would put it in the middle of the 3 seasons that have appeared so far in terms of quality. The first seasons story moved forward quickly, always giving more clues until the conclusion. Strong acting, story, and pace makes this the best season. Season 2 wasn’t as strong. The story lingered for too long in between the first and final episodes. The story was interesting, but you can’t help to think that the writers could have dreamt up more to give us for nightmare fuel. So season 3 lands in second place. Strong story, good pacing, and acting was good. So why second place? Because there was so much gore. If you know the plot then it makes since to have it. But there could have been a bit more story to fill the stomach churning parts that made it on screen.
Also, to any parent reading this to see if there child/teenager could watch this… absolutely not. This season isn’t just about scary this or scary that. They deal with some highly psycological themes here that would be difficult for most minors to handle.
